MechanX Files--The Ultimate Guide to Finding A Great Mechanic

Looking for a great, honest, hard working mechanic? (No, we're not kidding.) Or, do you know one that you'd like to let everyone know about? Either way, you've come to the right place.

The Mechan-X-Files is Car Talk's humongous database of above average mechanics (talk about damning by faint praise!). This database was created by, and for, the Car Talk community.

Here's how it works:

If you are looking for a great mechanic, you can search our database of recommended mechanics by criteria that you specify.

If you know of a garage or dealer who is your personal Mr. Great Wrench, you can add your own recommendation and take a few minutes to answer the Mechan-X questionnaire. We promise there'll be no bright lights or incriminating questions.

All we ask is that you not fill out a Mechan-X-Files posting on behalf of yourself, your boss, your friend, your kids or your brother-in-law who owns the local "Pokey Lube." All Mechan-X-Files entries are reviewed before being posted, and postings that badmouth a mechanic will be deleted.

Before you start, take a moment to check out our Hugh Louis Dewey disclaimer.
